Identity Studies: Al Jazeera Article “Uneasy Christmas for India’s Christians”

This Al Jazeera article presents a great example of what I call “identity studies” – I’d love to see an article comparing and contrasting the current situation in India with similar situations in other countries and various historical periods, including in contemporary Canada and the US.

Of course, this would mean looking at themes of negative normativity and power dynamics, rather than laying blame on particular faiths – or on religious faith itself (see my recent post about “Toy Story That Time Forgot” for more on this). As many of the people quoted in the Al Jazeera article point out, it’s entirely possible to respect and even celebrate each other’s faiths, teachings, and traditions. Daw, this has brought out my inner hippie. Peace ❤
